Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Chargers Dropped by Monks 86-41

STANDISH, Maine – The Colby-Sawyer's women's basketball team lost its sixth-straight contest on Tuesday night by a 86-41 final. 

Rapid Recap: 
  • The Chargers jumped ahead 3-2 on a junior Emily Parent (Oakland, Maine) three, however the Monks would counter and take control using a 21-2 run to capitalize and lead 23-5. First year Gabby Lucertini (Branford, Conn.) ended the run netting a triple, but the Monks took a favorable seventeen point advantage into the break.
  • The second quarter saw the home team build upon their lead outscoring the visitors 25-12. After the break the Monks continued to pour in the points pushing the lead to a game-high 50 points early in the fourth quarter. 
  • First year Megan Molettieri (Pelham, N.H.) heated up in the fourth quarter scoring nine points including a pair of long range shots as the Monks rolled for the victory.
Notes & Notables:
  • Molettieri tabbed a team-high16 points (6-12 FG, 2-6 3-PT, 2-4 FT), while also grabbing a pair of rebounds. Parent registered eight points (3-6 FG, 2-4 3-PT) on the night with two boards. First year Marissa Holt (Alfred, Maine) added six points (3-13 FG, 0-3 3-PT), three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
  • Cassandra Stapelfeld led the Monks with 19 points, six rebounds and three assists.
