STANDISH, Maine – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team were defeated in their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest against Saint Joseph's College of Maine 85-54 on Saturday afternoon.

- The Monks got on the scoreboard first after Tegan Hynes hit a three pointer to start the first half. The Chargers strung together seven points that was started by a jumper from Mike Joanou (Burbank, Calif.) and ended with a three-ball from senior Terrence Harvey Jr. (Atlanta, Ga.) to put Colby-Sawyer up 7-3. Senior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) drained his first triple of the afternoon but Drew Shea would respond with a tripe of his own. The Monks regained the led following a driving layup by Ashtyn Abbott to go up 20-12. Colby-Sawyer climbed their way back thanks to junior Kadir Arca (Istanbul, Turkey) who knocked down a three pointer and finished a fast break layup to make it 20-19. Senior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) gave the Chargers a one-point advantage after completing an and-one bucket to go ahead 24-23. With three minutes left in the half, Camryn Yorke tied the game at 29-29 after finishing a layup off the assist from Abbott. Harvey Jr. tallied four points off fast breaks for Colby-Sawyer but a three pointer by Julian Llopiz would keep the score close with the Chargers leading 33-32 at the half.
- At the start of the second half, the Monks went on a 14-2 run to take back a commanding 46-35 advantage. Boone completed both free throws after being fouled by Nicholas Curtis to make it 49-39. Saint Joseph's attack gained momentum and secured a 20-point led after a triple by Hynes. The Monks continued to extend their score to 77-47 after a made jumper by Bryton Early. The Chargers were unable to recover from the deficit and would end the game with an 84-54 final.
Notes & Notables:
- Harvey Jr. (4-7 FG, 1-3 3-FG) and Boone (3-15 FG, 3-3 FT) each scored nine points apiece for the Chargers. First year Daniel Jordan ended the game with eight points (3-7 FG, 1-4 3-FG, 1-2 FT) along with four rebounds and five steals.
- John Paul Frazier scored 16 points for the Monks along with two rebounds and a steal. Hynes finished the day with 12 points, four rebounds, one assist, and three steals.
- The Chargers shot 36.1% (14-33) from the field and ended the game shooting 21.7% (5-23) from behind the arc with 29 points off the bench and 17 points off turnovers.
