Lampron and Cummings Combine for 57 points as Chargers Rout New England College 99-78

HENNIKER, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team secured a 99-78 victory on the road against New England College on Tuesday night. Senior Scott Lampron (Concord, NH) and sophomore Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.) combined for 57 points, 15 rebounds and 14 three-pointers to lead the Chargers offense. 

Rapid Recap: 
  • The Chargers opened the scoring in the first half with a layup by senior Conor Kelly (Charlestown, Mass.) and a three-point shot from Cummings to go up 5-0. Alex Williams got the Pilgrims on the scoreboard after making one of two free throws. Senior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) drained a triple which started a 10-0 run to give the Chargers a commanding 15-1 advantage. After a made free throw and layup from the Pilgrims, Cummings responded with another made three-point shot. Colby-Sawyer continued to build their lead with Lampron tallying a couple three pointers and senior Terrence Harvey Jr. (Atlanta, Ga.) making a jumper to take a 23-9 advantage. The Pilgrims would then go on a 7-0 run to make it 23-16 but a three pointer from junior Kadir Arca (Istanbul, Turkey) kept the Chargers ahead by 10-points. The Pilgrims closed the scoring led to six points as the end of the first half approached but the Chargers offensive gained momentum thanks to four three pointers, three of which came from Lampron, to go up 45-29. Colby-Sawyer would head to halftime with a dominant 48-34 lead. 
  • At the start of the second half, the Pilgrims offense got some traction from Nick Gomeau and Cameron Le Van. Colby-Sawyer continued to control the game with Cummings scoring eight consecutive points to put the Chargers up 65-50. A layup by Williams and a three pointer from Kyle Inglis allowed the Pilgrims to close the score gap to 67-60. A pair of layups and a knock down triple by Lampron changed the pace of the game in favor of the Chargers to bring their advantage back into double digits. First year Daniel Jordan (Coral Springs, Fla.) drained a triple to give Colby-Sawyer their largest lead of the game at 92-70. A couple layups and three pointer from Senior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) secured the win with a final score of 99-78.
Player Spotlight:

"It felt good to get back into the rhythm after battling injury," said Lampron. "This was a must need win in our eyes. All the credit goes to my teammates for the continuous support and trust in me."

Notes & Notables:
  • Lampron led the Chargers offense with 31 points (11-17 FG, 7-10 3-PT, 2-2 FT), along with nine rebounds and three assists. Cummings finished the night with 26 points (9-18 FG, 7-14 3-PT, 1-2 FT) while also recording six rebounds and one assist. Harvey Jr. and Kelly each tallied 12 points a piece and recorded a combined four steals in the victory over the Pilgrims.    
  • Williams scored 15 points for the Pilgrims along with four rebounds, four assists, and a block while Le Van ended the game with 14 points, one rebound, and one assist. 
  • The Chargers shot 59.4% (19-32) from deep and ended the game shooting 57.6% (38-66) from the field with 34 points in the paint and 30 points off turnovers.
