VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Colby-Sawyer Chargers men's basketball team fell in the final game of the Townebank tip-off tournament to Pfeiffer University by a 77-70 final.

- The Chargers started off the game fast leading 7-4 after a three by junior Kadir Arca (Istanbul, Turkey) and a pair of buckets by senior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas). The hot shooting continued for Colby-Sawyer as back-to-back threes from sophomore Mike Joanou (Burbank, Calif.) and Boone netted the Chargers a 13-6 lead. The Falcons chipped away on the lead getting it to within a single point with 4:49 to go in the first half, but a triple by junior Jimmy Nguyen (Arlington, Texas) and a paint finish by senior Conor Kelly (Charlestown, Mass.) kept the Charger lead at 25-19. The lead stayed consistent, but back-to-back buckets from distance from sophomore Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.) gave Colby-Sawyer a 41-32 lead at the half.
- Pfeiffer came out in the second half strong going on a 16-3 run over seven minutes to pickup the 48-44 lead. The Chargers continued to trail with 5:21 by a 68-59 margin, before a 11-2 run ended with a big triple by senior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) tied the game at 70. The Falcons closed out the game on a 7-0 run with three clutch free throws.
Stats & Figures:
- Kelly led the offense with 11 points (5-9 FG, 1-3 FT), five rebounds and three assists. Cummings also tallied 11 points (3-13 FG, 2-7 3-FG, 3-3 FT) to go with a pair of rebounds and an assist. Arca, Boone and Lampron all each were in double-figures with 10 points a piece.
- Rashamel Butler led the Falcons with 22 points (6-12 FG, 0-2 3-FG, 10-12 FT) and 12 rebounds.
- Colby-Sawyer finished the night shooting 41.7% (25-60) from the field and 54.5% (12-22) from behind the arc. The Chargers also had 28 bench points and 20 points in the paint.
