Chargers' Bench Sparks 67-55 Win Over AMCATS

  • The first quarter saw both teams trading baskets with the AMCATS taking a 9-7 advantage. Junior Sydney Stevens (Laconia, N.H.) took the lead right back for the Chargers hitting a pair of free throws and then on the next possession securing an offensive board and finishing at the rim to give the visitors the lead.
  • Anna Maria hopped back in front leading by a single point, before another offensive board and put back by sophomore Grace Lister (Milford, N.H.) put the Chargers in front heading to the second quarter.
  • In the second frame the Chargers extended the lead early, as junior Emily Parent (Oakland, Maine) hit a triple, followed by a Lister finish under the basket to get the lead to 23-17.
  • A key 9-0 run by the visitors pushed the lead to 35-21, highlighted by a pair of triples first by first year Marissa Holt (Alfred, Maine) and next by Parent. The lead would stay at 14 heading into the second half.
  • The second half started with Holt drilling a three and extending the lead to 17 points. After the AMCATS got the lead back down to 12, the Chargers used a 6-0 run to get the lead a game-high 18 point difference.
  • The fourth quarter started with the Chargers scoring six of the first eight points, with first year Gabby Lucertini (Branford, Conn.) scoring four points on the run.
  • The AMCATS continued to try and chip away at the lead getting it down to 61-52 with 3:28 remaining, but the Chargers continuously stopped the momentum and held on for the big victory.
