Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Chargers Tripped Up by Blue Jays 65-46

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team dropped its contest to the University of Saint Joseph by a 65-46 final. 

Rapid Recap: 
  • The Chargers offense struggled in the first quarter only managing to score six points and found themselves trailing by seven heading into the second.
  • In the second a quick 4-0 run by the visitors saw the game at 15-10 before a counter 10-2 run by the Blue Jays jumped the lead to 25-12 and would take a 12-point lead into the break
  • The Blue Jays jumped the lead to 43-26 at the start of the third. A 11-3 response by the Chargers capped by four-straight points by junior Sydney Stevens (Laconia, N.H.) brought the game back to eleven points.
  •  In the fourth the home team took control once again jumping the lead to as much as 23 and ending the Chargers hopes at a comeback.

Notes & Notables: 
  • First year Marissa Holt (Alfred, Maine) led Colby-Sawyer in scoring with 14 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 3-PT, 3-4 FT) to go with three rebounds and two steals.
  • Junior Emily Parent (Oakland, Maine) filled the stat sheet with six points (2-8 FG, 1-5 3-PT, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, three assists and three blocks. 
  • Stevens added six points (2-5 FG, 2-2 FT) and five rebounds off the bench.
  • Jordan Ouellette paced the Jays with 17 points on 8-14 from the field.
