WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – #7 ranked University of Saint Joseph men's basketball team defeated Colby-Sawyer by a 103-62 final on Saturday night.
Rapid Recap:
- The Blue Jays took advantage from the jump storming ahead by a 12-2 margin stopped by a junior Deonte Flowers (Sumter, S.C.) tough layup.
- A first year Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.) three-pointer gave the Chargers a spark cutting the deficit to 19-11 midway through the first half.
- A counter 14-4 run had the home team up by 33-15 and propelled the Blue Jays to a 50-27 lead heading into the break.
- The second half success continued for USJ jumping the lead to 72-41 at the halfway point of the second half and pushing the game out of reach.
Notes & Notables:
- Senior Deondre Smith (Garland, Texas) had his third-straight double-digit scoring effort with 12 points (2-8 FG, 8-9 FT). Smith added a career-high four assists as well as four boards and a pair of steals.
- Junior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) tallied 12 points (5-9 FG, 0-2 3-PT, 2-4 FT) and three rebounds, while Flowers totaled 10 points (3-9 FG. 1-4 3-PT, 3-4 FT) and a pair of steals.
- Cummings added 10 points (3-7 FG, 2-5 3-PT, 2-2 FT) and three rebounds.
- Jaecee Martin and Tyshawn Jackson led the Blue Jays scoring 15 points a piece.
