Chargers Bested By Saints 75-60


NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team fell to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Emmanuel College at the Dan and Kathleen Hogan Sports Center, 75-60.

RAPID RECAP:
  • Emmanuel raced out to an early 17-3 run before a triple by first year Megan Molettieri (Pelham, N.H.) and a pair of free throws by junior Lia Raynowska (Brentwood, N.H.) cut the lead to 17-8. 
  • In the second quarter the Saints took advantage pushing the game to 38-22 heading into the break.
  • A pair of triples, first by Molettieri and second by junior Emily Parent (Oakland, Maine) got the game 41-28. Emmanuel took control again getting the lead up to 25 heading into the final frame.
  • The Chargers stormed out in the fourth with a 13-7 run sparked by ten points coming from first year Gabby Lucertini (Branford, Conn.) and Marissa Holt (Alfred, Maine). 
  • Colby-Sawyer continued their success in the fourth quarter outscoring the Saints by 10 points, eventually losing by a 75-60 margin.
  • The Chargers drop to 1-10 on the year and 1-4 in the GNAC. Emmanuel improves to 10-1 and an unbeaten record of 5-0 in the GNAC.

STATS & FIGURES:
  • Molettieri scored a game-high 17 points (6-12 FG, 4-7 3-PT, 1-1 FT), with three assists. 
  • Holt poured in 15 points (4-14 FG, 2-6 3-PT, 5-6 FT) to go along with four rebounds. 
  • Parent added an all around game with seven points (3-12 FG, 1-6 3-PT), five rebounds, and four assists. 
  • Jamad Finn led the Saints with 11 points and four steals.
UP NEXT: 
The Chargers return to the court on January 15th to play the University of Saint Joseph in another key GNAC matchup.
