Chargers Battle Against Blazers in 1-0 Loss

CHICOPEE, Mass.– The Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team battled the Elms College Blazers in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday night, falling by a final of 1-0. The Chargers finished with five shots, three on goal.

The Basics:
Score: Elms 1 - Colby-Sawyer 0
Records: Colby Sawyer (1-6-0, 1-4 GNAC) | Elms (5-5-0, 2-3 GNAC)
Location: Chicopee, Mass.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Blazers scored the lone goal of the match in the 20th minute when Michael Dima scored off the foot of Justin Szwajkowski.
  • Both teams were unable to capitalize on second-half scoring opportunities. Ryan Witty (Wilton, Conn.) kept the Chargers within striking distance, turning away four Blazer shots on target. Witty finished with seven saves.

Coaches Corner:

"We weren't so much out-played as we were out-fought in the first half. We raised our intensity in the second half, but we still lack quality in the attacking third of the field. We had 10 corner kicks in the game and didn't create any chances off them. I am proud of the way the boys competed in the second half, but we need to do that for a whole game."
