Cotten's Double-Double Isn't Enough as Saints Down Chargers 83-47

BOSTON, Mass. - The Chargers women's basketball team will head into the winter break falling at the hands of the Saints by a 83-47 final.

RAPID RECAP:
  • Emmanuel jumped ahead early going on a 12-2 run stopped by a junior Ameesah Cotten (Newburgh, N.Y.) basket. 
  • The lead would end the first quarter at a 27-6 margin and the lead would jump to 25 point deficit for the Chargers midway through the second. A pair of three-pointers by first year Marissa Holt (Alfred, Maine) cut the lead to 40-21 heading into the second half.
  • The Saints would control the game the rest of the way starting in the third quarter where the lead hit 30 points. Junior Lia Raynowska (Brentwood, N.H.) scored all 13 of her points in the second half becoming the driving force of the offense for the Chargers.
STATS & FIGURES:
  • Cotten registered her first career double-double with 12 points (6-10 FG, 0-4 FT) and 12 rebounds including seven offensive boards.
  • Raynowska lead the team in scoring with 13 points (4-9 FG, 3-8 3-PT, 2-4 FT),while also securing four rebounds.
  • First year Gabby Lucertini (Branford, Conn.) filled the stat sheet in a game-high 39 minutes with six points (2-9 FG, 0-3 3-PT, 2-4 FT), nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.
  • Loredana D'Agostino led the Saints with 11 points, six rebounds and two assists.

UP NEXT: 
The Chargers get a 20 day break from game action and will next be on the road at Middlebury College on December 31st at 2:00 PM.
