Kelly Scores Career-High 15 Points as Chargers Fall 99-66 to Saints

BOSTON, Mass. - Colby-Sawyer will head into winter break at a 4-5 record after dropping a contest to Emmanuel College by a 99-66 final.

Rapid Recap: 
  • The Chargers and Saints went back and forth to start off the game. First year Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.) knocked down a three to keep the game knotted at 22-22 with 6:23 remaining in the first half. 
  • A 14-3 run by the home team notched the first double-digit lead of the game, which carried the Saints to a 45-29 lead into the halftime break.
  • The teams matched each other again to start the second half with junior Conor Kelly (Charlestown, Mass.) making back-to-back buckets to get the Saints lead to 50-39. 
  • Another big run this time 13-2 had the Saints on top by 25 points with 10 minutes remaining in the contest and led them to the eventual victory.
Notes & Notables: 
  • Kelly finished as the Chargers top performer with a career-high 15 points (7-13 FG, 1-3 FT), while also grabbing five boards.
  • Junior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) scored 10 points (4-12 FG, 2-8 3-PT), while collecting six rebounds. Junior Zack Caraballo (Salem, N.H.) tallied 10 points (3-8 FG, 2-4 3-PT, 2-2 FT) and two assists, while senior Deondre Smith (Garland, Texas) added eight points (2-6 FG, 0-1 3-PT, 4-4 FT) off the bench.
  • Donte Pope scored 18 points, with four rebounds to pace the Saints.
  • The Chargers struggled offensively only connecting on 25% (7-28) of the shots from behind the arc. The defense also had trouble giving up a season-high 99 points to Emmanuel College.
Up next: 
The Chargers will take a long break resuming play on December 30th when they take on Fitchburg State University in the first game of the Trinity Tournament.
