Kaigler Achieves First Career Collegiate Win as Head Coach in 76-62 Victory

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Chargers Head Coach Dan Kaigler picked up his first career win as a head coach as Colby-Sawyer College defeated the University of New England by a 76-62 final.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers attacked out of the gate starting the game with a 12-3 run behind seven quick points by first year Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.).
  • The Nor'easters bounced back hitting four threes to take their first lead of 2021 at 15-13. The teams would go back-and-forth ending with a 32-31 advantage for the visitors going into the break.
  • Colby-Sawyer stormed out of the gate in the second half going on a 21-4 run highlighted by a showtime jam from junior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) on a nice feed from classmate Zack Caraballo (Salem, N.H.) pushing the lead to 52-37.
  • A late surge of points from UNE cut the game to 62-60, but a counter 10-2 run by the visitors would hammer home the opening game victory for Colby-Sawyer.

Coaches Corner:
"We had a great team win", said Kaigler. "Still some things to clean up, but we always celebrate wins."
