BIDDEFORD, Maine – Chargers Head Coach
Dan Kaigler picked up his first career win as a head coach as Colby-Sawyer College defeated the University of New England by a 76-62 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers attacked out of the gate starting the game with a 12-3 run behind seven quick points by first year Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.).
- The Nor'easters bounced back hitting four threes to take their first lead of 2021 at 15-13. The teams would go back-and-forth ending with a 32-31 advantage for the visitors going into the break.
- Colby-Sawyer stormed out of the gate in the second half going on a 21-4 run highlighted by a showtime jam from junior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) on a nice feed from classmate Zack Caraballo (Salem, N.H.) pushing the lead to 52-37.
- A late surge of points from UNE cut the game to 62-60, but a counter 10-2 run by the visitors would hammer home the opening game victory for Colby-Sawyer.

"We had a great team win", said Kaigler. "Still some things to clean up, but we always celebrate wins."
Notes & Notables:
- Boone lead the Chargers with 20 points (9-14 FG, 2-4 3-PT) 9 rebounds and a pair of assists.
- Junior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) notched 15 points (5-7 FG, 2-4 3-PT, 3-6 FT), five helpers and two steals, while Cummings ended his first collegiate game with 14 points (4-9 FG, 2-6 3-PT, 4-4 FT).
- Junior Conor Kelly (Charlestown, Mass.) rounded out the double-figures with 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 FT) to go along with nine boards and a rejection.
- Alex Kravchuk paced the Nor'easters with 18 points, four rebounds and a pair of assists.
