WATERVILLE, Maine -  The Chargers were defeated in day one of the Colby Tip-Off Classic falling to Colby College by a 69-44 final.

RAPID RECAP:

• The Mules jumped ahead early scoring the first 12 points of the game stopped by a three-pointer by first-year Marissa Holt (Alfred, Maine) to put the Chargers on the board. Colby-Sawyer would knock down two more triples and add a free throw to trim the deficit to 16-10 with three minutes remaining in the first.
• The second quarter was dominated by the home team outscoring the visitors by a 21-12 margin to widen the lead to 21 heading into the break. First- year Gabby Lucertini (Branford, Conn.) paced the offense for the Chargers in the quarter scoring eight points and securing a steal. 
• Out of the break junior Emily Parent (Oakland, Maine) caught fire hitting three shots from long range as the Mules continued to lead. 
• The fourth quarter only saw nine points with five coming from the Chargers as junior Calie Sorenson (Sandwich, Mass.) scored her first bucket of the season. 

NOTES & NOTABLES:

• Lucertini led the scorers pouring in 12 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 3-PT, 1-2 FT) to go with a pair of swipes and a block.
• Parent collected a 10 point (3-8 FG, 3-6 3-PT, 1-2 FT), six rebound showing, while Holt scored seven points (2-8 FG, 2-4 3-PT, 1-2 FT) to go along with four assists.
• The Chargers three-point shooting continues to rise hitting a season-high eight threes today at a 40% clip which is also a season-best.
