NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Chargers men's basketball team fell in their home opener by a 72-51 final on Saturday.
Rapid Recap:
- The game started off back and forth as UMass Boston held a 10-9 lead before taking control of the matchup with a 11-2 run. The Beacons concluded the half on a 10-2 advantage taking a 41-24 lead into the break.
- Both teams traded buckets early on in the second half. After a junior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) triple the Beacons found another spark going on a 12-2 run to secure a 28 point lead.
- Another 11-0 run later in the half made the lead a game-high 31 points. The Chargers ended the night on a 10-0 run to trim the deficit to a the end of 21 points.
Notes & Notables:
- Junior Zack Caraballo (Salem, N.H.) led the charge for Colby-Sawyer with 15 points (6-9 FG, 1-1 3-PT, 2-2 FT) on an efficient 67% shooting percentage.
- Junior Conor Kelly (Charlestown, Mass.) had a big game as well with eight points (3-6 FG, 2-3 FT) and a game-high 13 rebounds.
- Boone notched 11 points (5-13 FG, 1-4 3-PT, 0-1 FT), four rebounds, three steals and three rejections.
- Stephen DiGregorio led the Beacons with 15 points, four assists and four rebounds.
