HENNIKER, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's rugby team completed their regular season play with two wins in a 7's match against National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) opponent, New England College, on Saturday morning.

MATCH 1
- Senior Bella Paul (Asbury, N.J.) recorded the first try of the match, just 15 seconds into the first half to take a 5-0 advantage over the Pilgrims. Sophomore Bethany Ralph (Whitman, Mass.) followed along with another try, to increase the Charger's lead to 10. First-year Carmella Richardson (West Chesterfield, N.H.) chimed in on the action scoring the third and fourth try of the match and recording two conversions to put her team up 24-0 heading into halftime.
- Less than a minute into the second half, Ralph crossed the line to score her second try of the match and advanced the lead to 29-0. Sophomore Kaitlyn Veracka (Lebanon, N.H.) scored the last try of the first match with less than three minutes on the clock and followed it with a successful conversion to take the win 36-0.
MATCH 2
- Less than 20 seconds after the whistle blew to start the second match, first-year Sydney Calderwood (Amesbury, Mass.) picked up her first try of the day to get the Chargers on the board first. The Pilgrims answered back with their first try of the day to knot the score at 5. Ralph took back the lead with her third try and a successful conversion to set the score at 12-5, in favor of the Chargers. The Pilgrims were able to score a try in the very last second of the half to cut the Charger lead to two.
- Early in the second half, Ralph extended their lead to 19-10 with yet another try and another successful conversion. Calderwood added to the action with a try and a conversion of her own to propel the Chargers into a 26-10 lead over the Pilgrims with just four minutes on the clock. Regardless of the score, the Pilgrims continued to battle as they scored another try with no conversion to set the score at 26-15, Chargers. From there, first-year Vincenza Muoio (North Haven, Conn.) finished the day off by adding a pair of tries and a conversion to take the second match 38-15.
