NEW LONDON, N.H. – Three different Chargers tallied goals on Saturday afternoon to power the Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team to a 3-1 senior day win over the Amcats of Anna Maria College at Kelsey Field.
Callum Buchanan started the scoring off for the Chargers in the game's 32nd minute, tapping in a rebound and giving the home team a 1-0 advantage. The goal was the first of the season for the junior forward.
In the second half,
Braeden Carleton tallied his first collegiate goal in the game's 58th minute, sending in a
Jadon Baros helper, giving Colby-Sawyer a 2-0 edge.
The Amcats answered in the games 78th minute when Rubelsi Moran put home a Hezekiah Adeyeye pass, pulling the visitors within one, 2-1.
First year
Conner McKearin tallied his third goal of the season in the 86th minute to push the Chargers lead back to two, 3-1, and cap the scoring on the afternoon.
"We have played very well in the second half of the season, but we didn't always get the result we deserved," said head coach
Bob Reasso. "We are 3-1 in our last four games and the boys are playing their best soccer at the time of the year that counts. Today we played a very balanced and controlled game. We scored good goals and it was a perfect result for senior day."
Lucas Boetsch earned the win in net for the Chargers, recording seven saves on the afternoon. Colby-Sawyer held a 23-15 edge in shots on the afternoon, but both teams fired eight on frame. The Chargers also held a 14-1 advantage on corner kicks for the match.
The Chargers, winners of three of their last four, are in the thick of a playoff push, currently tied for the No. 8 spot in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC)
standings with 12 points. The Chargers are currently tied with Elms College for the eighth and final playoff spot with two games remaining in the regular season.
Colby-Sawyer (4-8-0, 4-6-0 GNAC) returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 20 with another league match-up, this time hosting the Lasers of Lasell University in a 3pm match-up at Kelsey Field.
