Chargers Get Past Lasers 2-0

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Chargers picked up a crucial three points in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) standings with a 2-0 shutout victory over Lasell University on Wednesday. 

The Basics:

The Summary:
  • Colby-Sawyer controlled the tempo of the game to start firing off eight shots in the first half an hour, while also having four corner kick opportunities. 
  • Callum Buchanan (Eastbourne, England) started off the scoring with his second goal of the season off a beautiful feed from senior Alex Carp (Colchester, Vt.). 
  • The second half saw the Chargers offense continue their domination as Mason Galbato (North Easton, Mass.) added an insurance goal in the 75th minute from a first year Conner McKearin (Proctor, Vt.) pass.
  • Senior Lucas Boetsch (Rockport, ME) registered his second complete-game shutout of the season with four saves.  
Coaches Corner 
"We controlled the game today, but we wasted too many scoring opportunities," said Head Coach Bob Reasso. "We are very happy with the win though marking our fourth win in the last five games. We are playing our best soccer when it counts."
 
Stats & Figures:
  • The Chargers showed their offensive dominance out-shooting the Lasers by a 26-11 margin. 
  • A 12-2 advantage in corner kicks marks the second-straight match with double-digit corner opportunites.
  • Galbato continued his hot streak today with his third goal in the past five games where CSC has a 4-1 record during that span.
  • The Chargers currently sit in the 6th seed in the GNAC with one final game remaining.

Colby-Sawyer ends its regular season traveling to an undefeated in the GNAC Saint Joseph's College of Maine team on Saturday at 1 PM in Standish, Maine.
