Galbato leads Chargers to 1-0 Victory over Saints

BOSTON, Mass.– The Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team defeated the Emmanuel College Saints in 1-0 shutout on Wednesday evening. The lone goal came from senior Mason Galbato (North Easton, Mass.) late in the second quarter to improve their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) record to 3-6.

The Basics:
Score: Colby-Sawyer 1, Emmanuel College 0
Records: Colby-Sawyer (3-8, 3-6 GNAC) | Emmanuel College (7-4-2, 4-3-1 GNAC)
Location: Boston, Mass.

Rapid Recap:
  • Early in the match, the Saint's found the back of the net to gain what they thought would be a 1-0 lead. However, a handball was called prior to the goal, causing a retraction of the point, keeping both teams scoreless heading into halftime.
  • A big save by senior goalkeeper Lucas Boetsch (Rockport, Maine) refrained the Saints from scoring early in the second half. A shot by Galbato provided the Chargers with their second corner of the day taken by senior Tim Driscoll (Framingham, Mass). First year Jadon Baros (Colorado Springs, CO) sought an opportunity to score but missed wide. The game-winning goal came in the 65th minute from the boot of Galbato off a put-back shot from a save caused by a previous shot from Baros. Less than five minutes later, the Saint's responded with a convincing attempt to get passed Boetsch. Fortunantly, the senior keeper kept his composure and retrieved the shot to collect another save and send the Chargers home victorious.

Coaches Corner:
