Chargers Slowed Up by the Pride 3-0

WESTON, Mass. - The Chargers three match winning streak was snapped on Tuesday as Regis College picked up the victory in straight sets.

The Basics:
 
Score:  Colby-Sawyer 0, Regis College 3 (15-25 | 16-25 | 15-25)
Records: Colby-Sawyer (8-11, 2-3 GNAC), Regis College (15-5, 7-2 GNAC)
Location: Regis Athletic Complex in Weston, Mass. 
 
Rapid Recap:  
  • The Pride started the offense quick taking a 12-2 run ahead of Colby-Sawyer in set one. A rally led by junior Olivia Werner (Williston, VT), who added a pair of kills got the visitors five straight to trim the deficit to 14-11. The Chargers would only tally four more points in the set as Regis pulled away to take set one 25-15.
  • Colby-Sawyer got help from the home team as the Pride committed a multitude of errors, however when they weren't making errors they were scoring the points registering eight of the final ten points to pull away with another set. 
  • In the third stanza the Chargers found themselves with an early 9-7 advantage following two kills from junior Ava Lavalle (Peabody, Mass.). Regis would use a 17-3 swing to take control of the set and finish off the visitors.

"Right now we're working on finding our confidence. We have all the pieces, but putting them together consistently has proved to be a challenge for us. We came up short this evening, but know what we need to do tomorrow night and look forward to another opportunity to compete."

Notes & Notables
  • Ameesah Cotten (Newburgh, N.Y.) was stellar on the defensive side having six assisted blocks to go along with four kills.
  • Werner and Lavalle paced the offense with five kills a piece.
  • First year Audra Fontes (Freson, Calif.) led the Chargers in digs with eight, while senior Anna Allen (Los Angeles, Calif.) notched 17 assists to go along with six digs and a service ace.
