NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 7, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team tied with Wentworth, 2-2, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer goes to 0-2-2 and will begin Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action next Saturday at Lasell. Wentworth goes to 1-1-1 and will play at Salem State on Wednesday.
The Chargers wasted little time getting on the board when first-year
Callum Buchanan (Eastbourne, England) deposited his first collegiate tally in the sixth minute off a pass from sophomore
Tim Driscoll (Framingham, Mass.).
Despite being outshot 10-1 in the first half, Colby-Sawyer took a 1-0 lead into the break.
Colby-Sawyer went in front by a pair of goals in the 82nd minute when sophomore
Mason Galbato (North Easton, Mass.) finished a feed from first-year
Kevin Mollison (Gorham, Maine).
Wentworth responded 10 seconds later as junior Nathan Gosselin (Hudson, N.H.) ripped a shot into the upper right corner for his first goal of the season.
With 2:04 left to play in regulation, the Leopards found the equalizer from senior Griffin Price (Allendale, N.J.). Junior John Dauphin (Yorba Linda, Calif.) was credited with the assist.
Each team had a few scoring opportunities in the extra sessions but neither could find the back of the net, sending the match to a 2-2 tie.
Colby-Sawyer keeper
Lucas Boetsch (Rockport, Maine) made 10 saves for the second match in a row. Wentworth goalie Robbie West (Weymouth, Mass.) had one stop.
