NEWTON, Mass. - September 14, 2019 - Colby-Sawyer sophomore
Mason Galbato (North Easton, Mass.) converted a penalty kick in the 64th minute to lift the Chargers to a 1-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory at Lasell.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 1-2-2 overall and 1-0 in conference action. The Chargers return home to host Clark on Wednesday. Lasell drops to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in the GNAC.
The Chargers were awarded the PK after a player was taken down inside the box on a partial breakaway. Galbato stepped up and beat the Lasell keeper with a shot to the left side of the goal.
The match was evenly played, with Colby-Sawyer having a 14-13 advantage in shots. The Chargers had an 11-5 margin in the first half and the Lasers had an 8-3 margin in the second half. Colby-Sawyer had seven corner kicks to three for Lasell.
Sophomore
Lucas Boetsch (Rockport, Maine) earned the shutout in goal for Colby-Sawyer, making five saves. Senior Chris Tran (Nantucket, Mass.) was strong in the Laser goal, making eight saves.
