NEW LONDON, N.H. - September 11, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team was defeated by Plymouth State, 6-3, in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer drops to 1-3. The Chargers will resume Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at home on Saturday against Simmons with a first serve set for 1 p.m. Plymouth State improves to 2-1 on the season.
Colby-Sawyer's No. 1 tandem of
Yashu Yang and
Alexa Conlin remained perfect on the season with an impressive 8-2 victory over Maggie McCarthy and Kira Winter. The Panthers were able to secure the other two doubles points to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.
Plymouth State then won at the third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles flights to earn the 6-3 match victory.
Colby-Sawyer's two singles points came from Yang and Conlin at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively.
Yang improved to 4-0 in singles action this season with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Maggie McCarthy at the top spot.
Conlin goes to 3-1 this year after today's 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Kira Winter at the second flight.
