NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 10, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team fell to Keene State, 3-1, in non-conference action Tuesday evening. The Owls won by scores of 25-14, 25-11, 25-27, 25-20.
The Owls improve to 7-2 and will play a tri-match at Wentworth on Saturday. Colby-Sawyer dips to 3-6 and will continue a five-match home stand on Friday against Salem State and UMass Dartmouth.
Keene State was led by a 14-kill effort from sophomore Ali McLoughlin (Melbourne, Fla.). She hit .265 and added three blocks. Sophomore Emilyann Ashford (Silver City, N.M.) also reached double figures in kills with 10. Junior Megan Palmer (East Islip, N.Y.) contributed nine kills, four aces and a match best 22 digs. Junior setter Bailey Wilson (Moorpark, Calif.) finished with 33 assists, 13 digs and a match-high five aces.
Colby-Sawyer received 14 kills from senior
Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.). She also recorded four blocks to move into a tie for seventh in career blocks with 239. Senior
Rebecca Straubel (Altamont, N.Y.) was second on the team with 10 kills. Sophomore
Anna Allen (Los Angeles, Calif.) tallied 28 assists and 13 digs. Sophomore
Sam Mohammed (Killingworth, Conn.) picked up a team best 18 digs.
