NORTHFIELD, Vt. - August 31, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team tied Southern Maine, 1-1, on the final day of the Cadet Kickoff Classic hosted by Norwich University.
Colby-Sawyer goes to 0-1-1 and will return home to host New England College on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Southern Maine also goes to 0-1-1. The Huskies host Babson on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Colby-Sawyer put the first goal on the board in the 18th minute when sophomore
Mason Galbato (North Easton, Mass.) scored off a feed from junior
Dallas Robinson (Enfield, Conn.).
In the 40th minute, Southern Maine's Mohamed Abdurahman notched the equalizer off an assist by Joseph Kalilwa to send the match into the break at 1-1.
The match remained tied throughout the duration of the second half. Colby-Sawyer took four shots, while the Huskies had two in the second frame.
After an uneventful first overtime session, Southern Maine was able to take a pair of shots in the second extra period but the match would end in a draw.
Sophomore
Lucas Boetsch worked the first 45 minutes and made two saves with one goal allowed. Senior
Jarod Parkins (North Kingstown, R.I.) made three saves in the final 65 minutes. Cameron Atherton made a pair of saves for Southern Maine.
