CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - March 31, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer men's volleyball team won both of its matches at Sunday's tri-match hosted by Pine Manor. The Chargers defeated the host Gators 3-0 and Newbury 3-0.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 10-13 and will return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Tuesday at Johnson & Wales.
COLBY-SAWYER 3, LESLEY 0 - 25-9, 25-15, 25-19
The Chargers had their best offensive match of the season against the Lynx by hitting an impressive .435 as a team. Colby-Sawyer had at least 10 kills in each of the three sets.
Eric Miller led Colby-Sawyer with 11 kills on .556 hitting.
Nate Trevino finished with eight kills on .312 hitting to go with four aces and a pair of blocks.
AJ Gnieski added 26 assists and three aces.
Alexander Genova had 14 of Lesley's 15 kills.
COLBY-SAWYER 3, PINE MANOR 0 - 25-7, 25-11, 25-17
On the heels of the team's best hitting performance of the season, the Chargers turned in their second best of 2019 against Pine Manor. Colby-Sawyer hit .406 and finished with 41 kills, while holding the Gators to only 10.
Orlando Plagata registered a double-double of 10 kills on .438 hitting and 10 digs.
Nate Trevino hit .500 and led all players with 11 kills.
Eric Miller continued a great day at the net with eight kills, while
Patrick Coffey hit .545 to tally seven kills.
AJ Gnieski recorded 36 assists in the win.
