KEENE, N.H. - October 5, 2019 - Colby-Sawyer first-year Shannon O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) set a 5k record to lead the women's cross country team at Saturday's Keene State Invitational.

O'Connell posted a new Colby-Sawyer standard of 18:55.4 to beat the previous record of 19:11.07 set by Emily Lopez '17 on September 17, 2016 at UMass Dartmouth. O'Connell finished 16th out of 185 runners to help the Chargers place 8th out of 19 teams. 

First-year Zoe Utton (Charlestown, N.H.) lowered her season best 5k time to 19:45.4 to place 40th. 

Senior Alison Fairbairn (Dover, N.H.) was close behind in 47th place in 19:57.3.

Senior Megan Spainhower (Northwood, N.H.) and first-year Emily Carrigan (Wenham, Mass.) finished simultaneously to place 93rd and 94th in 21:00 and 21:01.
