NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's cross country team played host to the 7th annual Charger Invitational on Saturday morning. With the biggest field since Covid, the Chargers would come away with the team win finishing with 39 points.
Rapid Recap:
- Senior captains Adriana Nadeau (Londonderry, N.H.) and Leah O'Neill (Peabody, Mass.) would lead the way for the Chargers as they would come in first and second overall. Nadeau led the race from the beginning, while O'Neill was not too far behind as she made her way into second at the halfway mark. Adriana would finish with a course personal best running the only sub 20 minute 5k of the day at 19:44. Leah would have a massive cross country 5k personal best as she would come across the line in 20:05.
- First Year Jacklyn Anderson (Hanover, N.H.) would not only make her college debut, but her cross country debut as well. Tracey would lead the way for the four first years on the team, and pushed the pace well as she crossed the line for sixth overall. Jacklyn would cross the line with a time of 20:52, making her the second fastest first year in the field.
- First Year Annika Lackstrom (New London, N.H.) would be making her college debut as well, finishing less than a minute behind a pack of other Great Northeast Athletic Conference fist years. Lackstrom would finish 13th overall, and the fourth Chargers across the line. Annika would cross the line in a time of 22:13, marking for a great debut for the hometown first year.
- Junior Maisy Hill (Bristol, Vt.) would round out the scoring for the Chargers as she was the fifth Charger across the line. Hill would finish in 17th overall, and would cross the line in 22:47.
- Carly Eaton (Hampton, N.H.) would come through as the sixth Charger with a 21st overall performance, with a time of 23:10 in her debut. Lenah Hellerich (Tolland, Conn.) would follow Eaton, marking a 22nd place finish in a time of 23:45. Kelly Ranta would come across the line next for the Chargers in 23rd with a time of 24:09. First Year Karolina Otworth (Weston, Conn.) would round out the Chargers as she came across the line in 25:17.
Inside the Numbers:
- The Chargers would finish in first place, edging out three other GNAC scoring teams. The team ended with 39 points beating second place Norwich by 11.
