NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 26, 2019 – Colby-Sawyer senior
Kailyn Lapham (Medway, Mass.) scored on a penalty stroke with less than three minutes to play in overtime to lift the Chargers to a 1-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Anna Maria at the Sally Shaw Veitch Turf Field on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to today's game, Colby-Sawyer honored its four seniors for their contributions to the field hockey program.

Hadley Woodfin (Marblehead, Mass.) were recognized.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 8-8 overall and 4-3 in the GNAC. The Chargers will wrap up the regular season at home on Wednesday against Saint Joseph's (ME). Anna Maria falls to 7-8 overall and 3-4 in conference play. The AMCATS host Rivier on Wednesday.
With less than three minutes to play in the first overtime session, the Chargers were applying pressure at the offensive end of the field. Anna Maria was whistled for a misplay inside the circle, which gave Colby-Sawyer a penalty stroke chance. Lapham stepped to the spot and shot the ball into the lower left side of the cage for the game-winner. Lapham has two goals this season, both via the penalty stroke.

Abby Ladd (Colchester, Vt.) had three saves to earn the shutout and got a little help from first-year
Bella Silva (Danvers, Mass.) who had a defensive save. Anna Maria goalie Hannah Tobey (Falmouth, Mass.) had a great game with seven saves.
The Chargers had an 11-2 advantage in penalty corners and a 16-6 edge in shots, highlighted by a strong third quarter (6-1).
