Men's Soccer Falls to Saint Joseph's, 2-0

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 23, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team fell to Saint Joseph's College of Maine, 2-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Wednesday afternoon at Kelsey Field.

Saint Joseph's improves to 13-1-2 overall and 8-0-1 in the conference. The Monks travel to Johnson & Wales on Saturday. Colby-Sawyer falls to 4-9-3 overall and 4-5 in GNAC action.

The Monks received a goal in each half from senior Mitchell Duncan (Sanford, Maine) to tie him for the team lead with seven on the season.

Duncan's first goal came in the 29th minute when he received a pass from senior Cody Elliott (Gorham, Maine) and rocketed a shot from 20 yards out into the upper left corner of the net. The Colby-Sawyer keeper got a hand on it, but the ball was well-placed.

In the 60th minute, senior Keenan Welzel (Brunswick, Maine) sent a corner kick into the box where Duncan used his head to beat the keeper to right.

Colby-Sawyer's best scoring chance came from first-year Nico Adornetto (Sanford, Maine), in the 56th minute, but Monks junior goalie David Walbridge (Hampden, Mass.) made the save to preserve the shutout.

Senior Jarod Parkins (North Kingstown, R.I.) made seven saves for the Chargers.
