Strong First Half Lifts Men's Soccer to GNAC Win at Suffolk

EAST BOSTON, Mass. - October 26, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team scored three times in the first half to earn an important 3-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory at Suffolk.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 5-9-3 overall and 5-5 in the GNAC to lock up a playoff spot. The Chargers host Emmanuel on Wednesday for a regular season finale. Suffolk falls to 5-9-1 overall and 3-7 in conference action.

The Chargers struck first in the 13th minute as Mason Galbato (North Easton, Mass.) headed the ball past Suffolk keeper Kyle Rosa off of a throw in from Tim Driscoll (Framingham, Mass.) deep inside Suffolk's defensive zone.

Seven minutes later, Ahamad Raji (Lagos, Nigeria) ran past several Rams defenders on a breakaway and lofted the ball over the outstretched arms of Rosa. Galbato tallied the assist on the play.

The Chargers continued to pressure the Rams in the middle of the field. In the 29th minute, Raji gained control of the ball off of a Suffolk turnover near midfield and sent a long pass to Callum Buchanan (Eastbourne, England), who sent a low laser into the back of the net to stretch the Chargers lead to 3-0.

Suffolk got one back in the 37th minute when Sal Perrotto cleaned up a loose ball in front of the net.
