BRISTOL, R.I. - September 1, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Rhode Island College on the first day of action at the Roger Williams Invitational.
The Chargers will play against Keene State on day two of the invitational, while RIC, which was picked third in the Little East Conference preseason poll, will play Roger Williams.
The game was scoreless until RIC broke through in the 68th minute. Senior Dennis Vazquez (Providence, R.I.) found the back of the net when he finished a nice pass from freshman Jonathan Olivera (Providence, R.I).
The Anchormen added a second goal, four minutes later, to secure the 2-0 victory. Freshman Brandon Ramos (Boston, Mass.) notched his first goal of the season with an unassisted tally.
Sophomore goalkeeper Charlie Tashjian (West Warwick, R.I.) made three saves to earn the clean sheet, while Colby-Sawyer senior goalkeeper
Shane Sacks (Huntington Station, N.Y.) made 11 stops in the loss.
