CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - August 31, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the first day of the DeSales University Invitational. The Chargers fell to the tournament host 3-0 and to Washington College (Md.) 3-1.
The Chargers will hit the court tomorrow for day two of the invitational with matches against Baruch and Rutgers-Camden.
Colby-Sawyer fell to DeSales by scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-14. The Chargers were led by junior
Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.) who recorded seven kills and a pair of blocks. Senior
Courtney Murray (Quincy, Mass.) added six kills, while junior
Morgan Flynn (Reading, Mass.) led the team with 15 digs.
In the nightcap, the Chargers fell to Washington College 3-1. After dropping the first set 25-15, Colby-Sawyer rebounded with a 25-20 win in the second set. The Shorewomen then won the third set 25-17 and the fourth 25-20 to clinch the match. Junior
Rebecca Straubel (Altamont, N.Y.) led the team with eight kills and added nine digs and a pair of aces. Freshman
Maddie Bromley (Truckee, Calif.) chipped in with seven kills and nine digs, while Flynn collected 14 more digs and a match best four aces. Junior setter
Olivia Goodrich (Epping, N.H.) tallied 25 assists.
