Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. – March 23, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team fell to 19th ranked Brandeis, 9-0, on Friday evening at the Gosman Athletic Center.
The Judges improve to 6-2 and will play Trinity tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. Colby-Sawyer drops to 1-6 and will play at Wheaton next Saturday, March 31.
Colby-Sawyer was in a 3-0 hole after Brandeis took all three doubles matches. The top doubles match featured a close affair, but
Gustav Jigrup and
Nick Mathieu were edged by the 9th ranked tandem of David Aizenberg and Anupreeth Coramutla. The Chargers held a lead, but the Brandeis duo rallied to win the match 8-7 (7-3).
Matt Burke and
Ross Kenney fell to Jackson Kogan and Tyler Ng 8-1 at No. 2.
Andrew Peloquin and
Alex Wright were defeated at No. 3 by Nikhil Das and Rajan Vohra, 8-3.
The Judges went on to sweep all six singles matches. Jigrup fell to Kogan 6-4 and 6-2 at the top spot, while Mathieu dropped a 6-1, 7-5 decision to Aizenberg at No. 2. Wright was defeated by Ng at No. 3, 6-4, 6-0.
Brandeis also took 4-6 singles as the teams played a single eight-game pro set at the final three slots.
