WESTON, Mass. - October 20, 2018 - Colby-Sawyer first-year
Mason Galbato (North Easton, Mass.) scored with 4:03 left in the second overtime session to lift the Chargers to a 3-2 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road win at Regis College Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers run their unbeaten streak to five, which includes three games that reached double overtime, to improve to 6-6-2 overall and finish the GNAC slate at 6-3-2. Colby-Sawyer will play a non-conference match at Plymouth State on Wednesday before a GNAC Tournament opening round match next Saturday. Regis drops to 8-5-2 overall and 4-5-2 in the GNAC.
After much of the first half was scoreless, Colby-Sawyer ended with a flurry of offense. In the final minute, the Chargers scored twice to take a 2-0 lead at the break. With 42 seconds to play in the opening frame,
Noah Camelo headed in his sixth goal of the season off a feed from
Jake Lubas.
Matt Schiller then scored off an assist from
Tim Driscoll, 34 seconds later and with just eight seconds left on the clock.
Regis cut the deficit in half, less than three minutes into the second half, when Ken Niyonzima notched his ninth goal of the year. The Pride found an equalizer in the 78th minute off the foot of Derek Triana.
Lucas Boetsch improved to 5-1-1 in net and made four saves for Colby-Sawyer.
Regis outshot the Chargers 18-10, while Colby-Sawyer had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
