FARMINGTON, Maine - January 27, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team defeated UMaine-Farmington for the second time this month after Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) 67-43 triumph.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 15-4 overall and sit in second place in the NAC with a 10-2 record. The Chargers will host Husson and Maine Maritime next weekend. UMF drops to 5-13 overall and 2-10 in the NAC.
Sophomore
Tianna Sugars (Oxford, Maine) led 11 Chargers in the scoring column with 13 points. She also grabbed 11 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season. Freshman
Mackenzie Buzzell (Lovell, Maine) chipped in 12 points, while sophomore
Lexie Hamilton (Sunapee, N.H.) finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. Senior
Emmani Robinson (Newburgh, N.Y.) contributed eight points and tied for a game best 13 rebounds.
UMF was led by Morgan Crocker's 11 points. Paige Carter had a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds. Haley Felkel added eight points and nine boards.
For the second day in a row, the Chargers began the game with an impressive first quarter and did not look back. Colby-Sawyer outscored UMF 25-11 in the first and held the lead for the remainder of the game.
Colby-Sawyer had a 55-44 advantage on the glass. The Chargers made 9-of-12 free throws and shot 36.1% from the floor, while UMF mustered just 23.1% shooting for the game.
