Chargers Bench Scores 45 in 92-80 Win at Maine Maritime

CASTINE, Maine – January 13, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball earned a 92-80 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory at Maine Maritime on Saturday evening. 

Colby-Sawyer improves to 9-4 overall and 6-1 in the NAC. The Chargers will host Green Mountain on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Maine Maritime falls to 1-13 on the season and 0-7 in the conference. The Mariners return to action in Vermont next weekend. 

Austin Boudreau led the Chargers with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists. Erik Olson added 18 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal and Jourdain Bell tallied 15 points, six steals, four rebounds, and two assists. Taylor Grande contributed 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal and Patrick Coffey added 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Nicholas DePatsy led Maine Maritime with 22 points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal, while Brendan Newcomb added 16 points. Adam Richardson chipped in with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists.

The Chargers got on the board first following a Patrick Coffey jumper, but Nicholas DePatsy and Brendan Newcomb responded with two treys to put the Mariners up 6-2. The two teams exchanged the lead throughout the early part of the first half until the Chargers used an 18-3 run to take a 44-31 lead, and took a 45-32 lead into halftime.

Maine Maritime went on a 9-2 run to open up the second half and closed the Chargers' lead to six (47-41). Another three from DePatsy followed by a free throw from Tyler Thayer (Hermon, Maine) brought the Mariners within four (49-45) with 15:39 to go.

The Mariners stayed within striking distance, closing the gap to just two points with 3:48 remaining, but Colby-Sawyer scored 12-unanswered points to take a 91-77 lead with 27 seconds to go and hung on for the 92-80 victory.
