WENHAM, Mass.— April 17, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team was edged by Gordon, 5-4 , on Monday afternoon.

These teams played in the fall and Gordon won 6-3. 

Gordon improves to 12-4 and will to Salve Regina tomorrow. Colby-Sawyer drops to 8-10 and will host Green Mountain on Thursday. 

At the top doubles flight, Gustav Jigrup (Gotehnburg, Vastra Frolunda, Sweden) and Alex Wright (St. Austell, Cornwall, England) fell to Mason Casady (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Nate Lookwhy (Westborough, Mass.).

The Chargers earned a doubles point at the No. 2 spot. Ryan Sawyer (Edgartown, Mass.) and Dean Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.) outlasted Mike D'Antuono (Mapleville, R.I.) and Eric Kim (La Crescenta, Calif.), 9-7.

Gordon was able to take a 2-1 lead after doubles with an 8-5 No. 3 win by Jonathan Frink (La Crescenta, Calif.) and Peter Godwin (Manchester, Conn.) over Colby-Sawyer duo Cass McCann (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) and Andrew Peloquin (Greenville, R.I.).

Each team won three singles matches giving Gordon the required five points to clinch the match.

Gustav Jigrup posted a hard fought three-set win at the top flight. After dropping the first 6-3, Jigrup rebounded with a gritty 7-6 (8-6) second set victory. He then took the match with a 10-6 super tie breaker win in the third. 

The Chargers also came away with a win at the second flight. Alex Wright had a convincing 6-2, 6-3 victory. 

Ryan Sawyer was the third Charger to record a singles win. He edged Mike D'Antuono 7-6 (7-1) in the first set. After dropping the second set, 6-1, Sawyer put the match away with a 6-3 third set win.
