Women's Lacrosse Cruises to 16-2 Win at Thomas

WATERVILLE, Maine - April 14, 2017 - Sierra Schuster (Hopkinton, N.H.) and Nicole Lavigne (Berlin, Vt.) scored six goals apiece to lead the Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team to a 16-2 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory at Thomas. 

Schuster scored six times on eight shots and added a game best five draw controls. Lavigne also scored six goals and added five ground balls. Lavigne now has 127 career goals to rank seventh in program history. She also moved into 10th on the career points list with 151. Bethany Fennessey (Windham, N.H.) had game-highs of six caused turnovers and six ground balls. 

Samantha Greenlaw (Windham, Maine) and Hailey Mullen (South Portland, Maine) each had a goal for Thomas.

The Chargers scored four unanswered goals in the first four minutes of play, including three on free position shots. Greenlaw cut the lead down to three at the 19:06 mark with the Terriers only goal of the half. Colby-Sawyer responded with six straight goals before the break, four of which came from Lavigne.

Colby-Sawyer's offense continued strong play throughout the second half as they netted another six goals. Schuster added three of the six, second half tallies. Mullen put another goal on the board for Thomas with two minutes remaining to finish the scoring at 16-2.

Senior Meghan Castellano (Wallingford, Conn.) earned the win in goal after playing the first half and making five saves. Freshman Kailyn Lapham (Medway, Mass.) played the final 30 minutes and made three saves. 

Freshman Sydni Collier (Oakland, Maine) made ten stops in goal for the Terriers.
