CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - March 8, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team played its first dual match of the spring semester on Wednesday at No. 22 MIT. The Engineers came away with a 9-0 win.
The Chargers drop to 2-4 and will continue to play tough competition next week with six matches on their spring break trip to Florida. MIT improves to 5-0.
Colby-Sawyer gave MIT all it good handle in doubles action. The Chargers' top duo of
Cass McCann and
Gustav Jigrup kept the match close, but were edged 8-6 by Sean Ko and Victor Cheng. Alex and Wright and
Ross Kenney played at the third slot and played Nate Newhouse and Omar Gonzalez to a tough 8-5 score. The second doubles team of
Ryan Sawyer and
Dean Boodakian dropped an 8-3 decision.
Alex Wright then played the closest singles match of the evening at the top flight. He came away with five games, but fell 6-1, 6-4 to Alex Cauneac.
