BOSTON, Mass. - March 1, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team received goals from 11 different players in Wednesday night's 20-1 win at Newbury.
Colby-Sawyer starts the season 2-0 for the first time since 2009. The Chargers will return to action on March 11 at Worcester State. Newbury falls to 0-2.
Sierra Schuster led the Chargers with four goals, while
Nicole Lavigne collected a team best six points on three goals and three assists.
Bailey Starr also scored twice and pulled in a game best five draw controls.
Nikki Pignone and
Grace Vosburgh found the back of the net for their first collegiate goals.
Molly Mulcahy and
Brittany Ireland added two goals apiece, while
Courtney Lampert,
Shae-Lyn Walker and
Carli Chiodo also registered goals.
Meghan Castellano played the first half in goal for the Chargers and made one save. She then played the field in the second half and notched her first collegiate goal.
Kailyn Lapham played the final 30 minutes in goal and made two stops without allowing a goal.
Nighthawks freshman Keely Molloy finished the night with a career-high eight saves.
Kyliene Phillips scored the lone goal for Newbury.
