NEW LONDON, N.H. – December 5, 2017 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team dropped a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game to Castleton University, 62-37, at the David L. Coffin Fieldhouse Tuesday evening.
Castleton improves to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the NAC. The Spartans will host Maine Maritime on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Colby-Sawyer drops to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the NAC. The Chargers travel to Lyndon to conclude the first semester of action. The team will return on January 2 at Salem State.
The Spartans received a game best 15 points from freshman Brooke Raiche (Ira, Vt.). She added five rebounds and four assists. Senior Makayla Farrara (Shaftsbury, Vt.) was the only other player in the game to reach double figures with 13 points. Freshman Emilee Bose (Enosburg, Vt.) added eight points and seven rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench.

Emmani Robinson (Newburgh, N.Y.) led Colby-Sawyer with eight points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Sophomore
Lexie Hamilton (Sunapee, N.H.) added eight points, while freshman
Jordyn Enos (Salinas, Calif.) chipped in with five points in five minutes off the bench.
Colby-Sawyer led 10-8 after the first quarter thanks to a strong defense that held Castleton to 23.5% shooting from the floor. Robinson had six points and seven rebounds to lead the Chargers. Six of the Spartans' eight points came from the bench.
The Spartans increased their offensive pressure in the second quarter and made 6-of-8 three-point attempts to outscore Colby-Sawyer 24-8 in the frame and lead 32-18 at the break. Brooke Raiche hit three treys in the second to finish the half with 13 points. Castleton turned four Colby-Sawyer turnovers into nine points.
Castleton pulled away in the third quarter by making 10-of-17 shots to increase its advantage to 55-24 after three.
Colby-Sawyer won the fourth quarter 13-7, but it was not enough as Castleton came away with the 62-37 road win.
