BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - November 17, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team won its season opener over Norwich, 49-34, in the semifinals of the 2017 Cave Classic Tip-Off Tournament on Friday evening hosted by Bridgewater State.
Colby-Sawyer (1-0) advanced to the championship game against the tournament host Bears tomorrow at 3 p.m. BSU edged Endicott 52-50 in Friday's first game. Endicott and Norwich will play the consolation game at 1 p.m.
Senior forwardÂ
Emmani Robinson (Newburgh, N.Y.) scored ten points on 5 of 6 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Colby-Sawyer. Sophomore forwardÂ
Tianna Sugars (Oxford, Maine) added nine points and grabbed a career-high 13 boards, while sophomore guardÂ
Lexie Hamilton (Sunapee, N.H.) chipped in with nine points, eight rebounds and six assists.
The Chargers led from start to finish and held a double-digit advantage throughout the second half.

Colby-Sawyer shot 32% (18-57) from the floor, 17% (3-18) from behind the arc and 63% (10-16) at the line.

Junior forward Vanessa Fleury (Lebanon, N.H.) paced Norwich with eight points and six rebounds.

The Cadets struggled with their shooting throughout the evening as they connected on just 11 of 63 (17.5%) field goal attempts, including 1-for-14 (7%) from three-point range. Norwich knocked down as many free throws as field goals as the Cadets went 11-for-14 at the charity stripe.
