NEW LONDON, N.H. – November 10, 2017 – The Colby-Sawyer women's swimming & diving team defeated Plymouth State, 122-116, on Friday evening at the Knight Natatorium.
RESULTS
With the result hanging in the balance heading into the night's final race, Colby-Sawyer came away with first and second place in the 200 freestyle relay to win the meet. Junior
Meagan Thomsen (Gorham, Maine), sophomore
Grace Herde (Kent, Conn.), senior
Anna Gaskill (Brattleboro, Vt.) and freshman
Jinnae Jang (Fall River, Mass.) posted a winning time of 1:54.46.
Gaskill picked up the Chargers' first victory of the evening with a top time in the 200 freestyle. She touched the wall in 2:14.10 to cruise to the win. Gaskill also won the 100 butterfly in 1:10.29.
Senior
Makenzie Welch (Torrington, Conn.) then picked up a win in the 50 backstroke with a time of 30.30.
In the 50 freestyle, Jang came away with a time of 26.30 to take top honors in the 50 freestyle. Jang added a victory in the 100 IM. She clocked in at 1:06.50 to beat the nearest competitor by 1.5 seconds.
Sophomore
Cassie Lewis (South Berwick, Maine) shined in a distance race for the Chargers. She recorded a time of 6:53.15 to win the 500 freestyle, 40 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Colby-Sawyer will host Elms on Saturday at 1 p.m., while the Panthers are off until November 18 when they will host Eastern Connecticut State and Western New England.
