JOHNSON, Vt. - October 8, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team held on for a 3-2 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory at Johnson on Sunday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 9-2 overall and 6-0 in the NAC. The Chargers will step out of conference for a Wednesday home match against UMass Boston. Johnson falls to 4-8 overall and 0-6 in the conference.Â

Emily Martin (Amesbury, Mass.) connected on a long distance shot just 2:12 into the opening half to give the visitors a quick 1-0 lead.Â
Five minutes later, the Chargers struck again when senior
Natalie Shear (Wayland, Mass.) sent a through ball to senior teammate
Nell McQueeney (West Danville, Vt.)Â who fired a shot to the top-left corner and into the back of the net for the 2-0 advantage.
The Badgers answered back with two goals by Kylie Aither (Hyde Park, Vt.) in a span of 1:32. Her first tally deflected off a Colby-Sawyer defender and into the net to cut the deficit in half. She then took possession on the left side of the box and ripped a shot into to the far corner of the goal to tie the game. Despite a 20-4 first half advantage in shots by Colby-Sawyer, the match entered the break knotted at 2-2.Â
The lone goal of the second half came from Colby-Sawyer to lift the Chargers to their sixth conference win of the season. Sophomore
Molly MacLure (Westford, Mass.) received a touch pass from junior
Hannah Fields (Shapleigh, Maine)Â a few yards outside of the penalty arc and drilled a shot through the top-left corner for the game-winning goal.Â

Marissa Williams (Mattapoisett, Mass.) played the first 22 minutes and allowed two goals.
Sam Mitchell (Chester, N.H.) worked the remainder of the match to earn the win after making one save. Johnson goalie Kaila Lemmer had 16 saves in the loss.Â
The Chargers outshot Johnson 40-6 and had an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.Â
