NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 14, 2017 – Freshman Dana Bean (Franklin, N.H.) and sophomore Jourdain Bell (Manchester, N.H.) had double-doubles to lead the Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team to an 81-65 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over Green Mountain on Saturday afternoon.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 6-8 overall and 3-4 in the NAC. The Chargers will travel to Lyndon on Tuesday. Green Mountain falls to 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the conference. The Eagles play at Middlebury on Tuesday.

Bean recorded his fifth double-double of the season leading all players in points with 25 and rebounds with 11. Bell was 7-of-13 from the floor to finish with 22 points and tied a career-high with 10 rebounds. He added five assists and pair of steals. Sophomore Milani Hicks (Scarborough, Maine) contributed 12 points, seven boards and a game best six assists.

Sophomore Pierce Weatherspoon (Wethersfield, Conn.) led Green Mountain with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Senior Javier Lugris (Madrid, Spain) tallied 12 points and nine rebounds, while senior Thomas Brown (Charlottesville, Va.) added 11 points. Senior Patrick Rittmon (Los Angeles, Calif.) rounded out the four Eagles in double figures with 10 points.

The first half featured 6 ties and 11 lead changes with the Chargers holding the last one to take a 37-36 advantage into the locker room. Colby-Sawyer finished the half 9-of-10 from the free throw line.

The Eagles scored the first five points of the game, which was the biggest lead in the first 12 minutes, before Jourdain Bell connected on a trey with 8:22 to play to give Colby-Sawyer the largest advantage at 26-20. The teams went back and forth for the next several minutes and Green Mountain held a 36-33 lead after a Weatherspoon layup with 2:32 remaining. The Chargers received four free throws from Hicks to close the half and give Colby-Sawyer a 37-36 lead at the break.

Colby-Sawyer carried the momentum out of the locker room with buckets from Bean and Hicks to open the second half. The home team slowly built its lead to 14 points after a Bell jumper with 7:44 left to play and the Chargers never looked back. Colby-Sawyer would hold a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game and go on to win 81-65. The Chargers shot 52.9% in the second.
