Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

#11 UMass Boston Escapes with 1-0 Win over Men's Soccer

NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 21, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to 11th ranked UMass Boston, according to the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

UMass Boston improves to 7-0. The Beacons will resume Little East Conference action on Saturday with a 7 p.m. home match against Rhode Island College. Colby-Sawyer dips to 2-3-1. The Chargers will host North Atlantic Conference foe Castleton on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Beacons came to Kelsey Field averaging an impressive 3.6 goals per game, but were held to one goal by the Chargers for the first time this season. Despite UMass Boston holding a 24-4 advantage in shots, the Colby-Sawyer backline did not relinquish many quality chances in the first ever meeting between the two teams.

The visitors got the game's lone game in the 14th minute when junior Joshua Khang (Brockton, Mass.) found the foot of sophomore Mohamed Kenawy (Revere, Mass.) with a through ball down the left flank. Kenawy possessed the ball and beat the keeper inside the far post as he came out to challenge the play.

Freshman goalie Omar Castro-Dreher (Woonsocket, R.I.) earned his fifth clean sheet of the season and made three saves. Colby-Sawyer sophomore goalie Jake Towle (Barnstead, N.H.) kept the game within reach by making an impressive 10 saves.
