BANGOR, Maine - September 17, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Husson University in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener on Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer goes to 2-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the NAC. The Chargers will host UMass Boston on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Husson is now 0-3-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the NAC.
Husson put up the game's first goal in the 14th minute off the foot of Rod Ghanayem.
The match was a stalemate for the next 73 minutes until junior
Denali Sexton (Cumberland, R.I.) finished a cross from senior
Andrew Clothier (Matamata, New Zealand). The goal is Sexton's sixth of the season, while Clothier collected his fourth assist and increased his career assists record to 24.
Each team could not find the game-winner in the two extra 10-minute sessions and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Sophomore
Jake Towle (Barnstead, N.H.) made six saves for the Chargers with three of them coming in the second overtime.
The Chargers outshot the Eagles 24-17 and held a 10-5 edge in corner kicks.
