Chargers Make Record 22 Three-Pointers in 108-71 Win over New England College

NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 20, 2016 – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team made a single game program record 22 three-pointers to defeat New England College 108-71 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) regular season finale.

Prior to the game, Head Coach Bill Foti shared some remarks about the four graduating seniors on the Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team including Peter Donato (Portland, Maine), Wol Majong (Manchester, N.H.), Jake Maynard (Shelburne, Vt.) and Kohl Meyers (Wolfeboro, N.H.).

Colby-Sawyer pushes its win streak to six straight to improve to 18-6 overall and 14-4 in the NAC. The Chargers secured the second seed in next week's NAC tournament. New England College ends its season at 7-18 and 4-14.  

Colby-Sawyer senior Wol Majong poured in the eighth most points in a single game in program history with 39. He was 15-of-25 from the floor and tied the program record with nine treys. He moved into 11th place in career points with 1312 and also climbed to ninth in career steals with 153. Senior Kohl Meyers went 4-for-5 from beyond the arc to finish with a career best 14 points. Senior Jake Maynard grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds. Senior Peter Donato finished with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Sophomore Taylor Grande (Bedford, N.H.) recorded the second most assists in a single game with 14.

NEC was led by senior Dezron Wilson (Nashua, N.H.). He scored 35 points on 8-of-18 from the floor and 18-of-22 from the free throw line. Freshman Jakhalil Smith (Roxbury, Mass.) added 13 points in 22 minutes off the bench.

Both teams shot the ball well in the first half, but Colby-Sawyer was able to take a 57-34 lead into the break thanks to 13-of-22 shooting from three-point land. The Chargers continued the hot shooting in the second and held NEC below 30 percent to increase the lead throughout the frame.

The Chargers won the battle of the boards 51-29 leading to a 23-6 advantage in second chance points. Colby-Sawyer shot 51.3 percent from the floor and 45.8 percent from beyond the arc and held NEC to 36.4 percent from the field.
