WATERVILLE, Maine – October 23, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team fell to Thomas College, 2-1 in double overtime on Sunday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer drop to 9-6-1 overall and secure the third seed in the conference tournament with a record of 6-2-1. Thomas claims the top spot in the NAC with a perfect 9-0 record and move to 11-4-1 overall.
In the 55th minute, Colby-Sawyer got on the board first on a goal from
Eddie Garcia. Garcia took a free kick outside the box that snuck just inside the left post.
Thirty seconds later, the Terriers found an equalizer with a goal from Adam LaBrie off a feed from Willie Clemons.
In the 64th, Thomas defender Josh Irving made a game-saving stop as a Colby-Sawyer shot made its way for an open net, but was cleared to safety.
The score remained tied until the mid-way point of the second extra session as Tevin Reid received a pass from Jeffrey Nagy and buried the game winner.
Senior Joakim Sternas earned the victory in goal for the Terriers, stopping five shots while
Jake Towle turned aside nine shots for the Chargers.
