NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 15, 2016 – The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team celebrated senior day with a 3-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over Maine Maritime on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to the game, Colby-Sawyer honored its three seniors
Adam Borbely (North Easton, Mass.),
Andrew Clothier (Matamata, New Zealand) and
Rick Prindiville (Hooksett, N.H.).
Colby-Sawyer wins its fifth straight to improve to 8-4-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the NAC. The Chargers will welcome nationally ranked Middlebury on Tuesday. Maine Maritime dips to 4-8-1 overall and 3-3 in conference play. The Mariners will host Bates tomorrow.
Junior
Eddie Garcia (Damascus, Md.) broke the scoreless tie in the 34th minute when he volleyed a ball into the left side of the net from 25 yards out.
The home side doubled its lead in the 56th minute.
Andrew Clothier took one of the Chargers' 11 corner kicks of the afternoon and sent it towards the far end of the goal. Sophomore
Noah Camelo (Marblehead, Mass.) was able to jump higher than the defenders and put his head on the ball, beating the dive of the Maine Maritime keeper for his third goal of the season.
Colby-Sawyer added an insurance goal in the 77th minute. Camelo was involved again and set up freshman teammate
Devin Kelly (Lynnfield, Mass.) for his fifth marker of the season.
Junior
Sean Babinski (Concord, Calif.) earned his second win of the season for Colby-Sawyer and did not have to make a save. Maine Maritime goalie Kyle Townsend (Hampden, Maine) had nine stops.
